Database Internals - Alex Petrov
It complements Martin's Design Data Intensive Application book and goes deeper into implementation details.

Designing Data-Intensive Applications - Martin Kleppmann
This book should be taught in Computer Science Engineering course, lot of things you learn by practice in many years are written as a content in this book.
